VINDICE (vin-DEE-chay)
Created from a combination of our last names – Tim VINci and Nick IoDICE, references to this word in classic Latin literature translate to either “Avenge” or “Vindicate”. We can’t think of a better word to represent ourselves, our business, and our products.
Our mission is to avenge the palates of the world that have been wronged by tasteless, commercialized foods that promise flavor, but fail to deliver.
We believe in protecting the rights of those like us to have access to the kinds of food they want to eat rather than the humdrum blandness meant to satisfy the masses. One of our good friends and supporters has a heart condition that prevents him from eating many of the foods he loves. We were not happy with the idea that he would be stuck eating porridge and sprouts for the rest of his life, so we made him a turkey sausage that’s every bit as delicious as our pork variety. Needless to say, we brought tears to his eyes…because it’s spicy!
We believe in making and eating food with genuine flavor. Not just a hint, not just a tingle, but rather “hot” means have a jug of whole milk on standby; “garlic” means invite your date to share your meal or plan some time apart for awhile. The products that we make will assault your senses, but in an addictive endorphin-rush kind of way. Not everyone will love our products and we’re OK with that. We’re not out to be one-size-fits-all. We’re out to make what we love and make it available to those like us.
Why VINDICE?
Simple – demand.
VINDICE Recipes started almost eight years ago. It was an early summer evening. The Iodice family decided to grill something for dinner so we went to the store to peruse the selection. We all love garlic and decided on a “Garlic Sausage” that was made by one of our favorite TV chefs. Unfortunately, the one man on the planet we trusted to sell a product that tasted as we had expected let us down. The next day, we shared our story and frustration with the Vinci family. Since then, VINDICE Recipes has been underway.
Most businesses operate under a basic business principle: develop a product line that is attractive to the greatest possible number of consumers. The problem with this approach in the extremely large and competitive market of Food Products is most companies end up making products that are very similar with nothing to make them stand out from the rest. The end result: boring sameness.
At VINDICE Recipes, we target 40% of the food-related consumer base and then punch them in the mouth with the boldness of flavor that they crave. We make products that eclipse anything else out there. One of our goals is for our sausage to be easily distinguishable from our competition in a blind taste test. We want our customers to know our name and our products so they can trust us to deliver exactly what they expect from our label.
The other 60% will stick with boring sameness…and that’s just fine by us.
